“… Well done, direct from Singapore, and on behalf of the whole Arcaid team. Indeed, your winning entry was the overwhelming choice of the illustrious judging team as having captured both building, especially context.
Your double win (You won the Sense of Place Category too) has just been warmly applauded by a packed hall of over 700 World Architecture Festival attendees.
You fought off 60 other entries and some very stiff competition from very well known architectural photographers.

The Trollstigen Project
01. October 2012

The project enhance the experience of the Norwegian Trollstigen plateau’s location and nature. Thoughtfulness regarding features and materials underscores the site’s temper and character, and well-adapted, functional facilities augment the visitor’s experience. The architecture is to be characterised by clear and precise transitions between planned zones and the natural landscape. Through the notion of water as a dynamic element – from snow, to running and then falling water – and rock as a static element, the project creates a series of prepositional relations that describe and magnify the unique spatiality of the site.

Norwegian Wild Reindeer Centre Pavilion
29. March 2012

The 90 square meter observation pavilion is positioned within the Dovrefjell National Park, the remaining home to wild reindeer herds. Perched upon a plateau at an elevation of 1200 meters above sea level, the structure provides transient visitors with panoramic vistas of the prominent snøhetta mountain range.
Reminiscent of rock forms slowly eroded by wind and water processes, the undulating southern facade creates outdoor seating warmed by the sun’s rays. Individual 10 inch square wooden beams were milled and assembled with pegs to produce the waving effect. A rigid rectangular frame clad with rusted steel seamlessly blends into the surrounding landscape.

KUS – KinderUnterSuchung
17. February 2012

During our last trip to SAGE HOSPITAL we organised a two day medical child examination (KinderUnterSuchung) for about 200 pupils of the school “Les Cajoutiers”. These children belong to the poorest population-layer in Senegal and all live in the villages surrounding SAGE Hospital.
For 80% of these children this visit to a doctor was a first time happening! They recieved a complete check- up and went through the following medical stations:
1. our pediatrist Dr. Labou
2. a dentist
3. an ophthalmologist
4. all children were given an “anti- parasite” treatment
5. all vaccinations were updated
6. necessary medication was given directlyat our Pharmacy at the SAGE Hospital
7. eventually reading glasses were distributed
This check might be beside their education at the school another small step into a – hopefully – better future.
This wounderful project was free of charge for the children and their families. It could only realised with the help and generous donation of all the friends and sponsors of SAGE Hospital e.V., who have always supported and trusted us in our actions. We would like to thank all of them who helped us make this happen.

Lean Oak Tables
17. November 2011

Lean Oak Tables are a result in shape of a set of tables after a quest for a lean production principle: with methods of traditional craftsmanship an oak leg is wedged to a hexagonal oak board to become a structural entity. Multiple entities, three at least, join to become a table. The slanted legs, chosen for structural reasons, create a table of which the single piece seems to lean against the others. The table is made from lokal oak, and has two different sizes to allow playful combinations.
